He Is Risen

He Is Risen

The famous baptist preacher, Herschel Hobbs writes, "After Mary Magdalene left the tomb (John 20:17–18) there is no evidence that any believer ever returned to it. Furthermore, there is no Gospel evidence that any of the enemies of Jesus ever visited the tomb. His enemies did not go because they were afraid it was empty. Jesus’ friends did not return to the tomb because they knew it was empty!"

This Sunday, Christians around the world will celebrate the victory of life over death as Jesus fulfilled the prophecies and Scripture proving to be the Savior of the world.  That Sunday morning over two millennia ago, Jesus conquered death and the grave and defeated the hold that sin has over man.

As the Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Corinth:

54 When this corruptible is clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal is clothed with immortality, then the saying that is written will take place:  Death has been swallowed up in victory.  55 Death, where is your victory?Death, where is your sting?  56 Now the sting of death is sin,and the power of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

1 Corinthians 15:54–57 (HCSB)

The truth is this:

If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
Romans 10:9–10 (HCSB)

This Sunday we will gather at Parkway not to mourn the death of Jesus, but to celebrate His resurrection and life; the life that He lives and freely gives to all who will believe in Him as Savior and Lord.  I would like to invite you to come and join us this Sunday as we worship Christ the Lord who is risen today. HE IS RISEN!
